This month’s Dragon Magazine has a brief update on D&D Online. Executive Producer James Jones says:
We’re also very interested in implementing prestige classes, adding the rest of the races and classes from the Player’s Handbook, and we’re looking into adding the Eberron races and classes as well.
Looks like the game should be ready for release sometime next year.

Plain English translation: Keep chewing on that hook please…. we’ll set the hook when we feel we can snag the biggest nerdbuck possible in one shot… as our game will be deserted inside of 8 months… b/c we’re gonna go lowest common denominator too, instead of going niche… wish us luck….
Agreed. Great potential greatly wasted. If they took away the monthly fee, I’d probably give it a try, but as is there is not enough ‘persistence’ to make me want to see that debit on my bank statement every month.
tlorin: same gripe about Phantasy Star Universe, but at least that game has a single player you can play offline (you’d think they’d give you the option to not have to pay and give you a free month as a taster)
This is the same James Jones who pulled the shannagins over at Artifact Entertainment (Horizons) which ousted the CEO, thereby installing himself as head of the company. Nice guy who can really play politics. :rolls:
